Website Terms

These terms are between [Legal entity name] ("Townlight Studio," "we," "us") and the business purchasing a website ("you"). By paying for a Launch Package or Pay Monthly plan, you agree to them. We've tried to write them in plain English.

1. What you're buying

Launch Package: we finish the website we previewed for you (or a site of similar scope) with your content, up to 5 pages, connect it to your domain, and launch it. Pay Monthly: the same website, paid monthly instead of upfront, with a 12-month minimum term. Both include the Care Plan described in section 4. Anything not listed (online stores, custom features, ongoing advertising, social media management) is outside these terms unless we agree in writing.

2. Price and payment

  • Launch Package: $495 one-time, plus $49/month Care Plan beginning one month after purchase.
  • Pay Monthly: $99/month for the first 12 months, then $49/month.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Monthly charges renew automatically until cancelled.
  • If a monthly payment fails and isn't fixed within 30 days, we may pause hosting of the site after giving you notice by email.

3. Timeline and your part

We aim to launch within 7 business days of receiving your content (logo, photos, details). You're responsible for giving us accurate information and for having the rights to anything you send us (photos, logos, text). You get two rounds of changes before launch. If we haven't heard from you for 30 days during the build, we may launch with the content already approved or pause the project.

4. Care Plan

While your Care Plan is active we provide hosting, SSL, security updates, backups, uptime monitoring, renewal of any domain we registered for you, and up to 30 minutes per month of small edits (usually completed within 2 business days). Larger changes are quoted in advance.

5. Ownership

  • You own your content: your business name, logo, photos, text, and your domain name.
  • Your website: once you've paid the Launch Package fee (or completed the 12-month Pay Monthly term), you may take a copy of your site's files with you if you leave. Our underlying templates, code libraries, and tools remain ours; we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use them as part of your website.
  • Domains we register for you are registered for your business's use; we'll transfer them to you at no charge on request.
  • We may show your site in our portfolio only with your written permission.

6. Cancellation and refunds

  • Before launch: if you're not happy, tell us and we'll refund what you paid for the build.
  • After launch: the Launch Package fee is non-refundable. You can cancel the Care Plan any time with 30 days' notice; we'll give you your site files and help move your domain.
  • Pay Monthly: you can cancel before 12 months by paying the remaining balance of the first-year term ([or: the difference between payments made and $495]), after which section 5 applies.

7. What we promise and what we don't

We'll build your site with care, keep it online and secure, and fix problems we cause promptly. We don't guarantee any particular search ranking, traffic, or number of customers. Except as stated here, the service is provided "as is." Hosting may occasionally be interrupted for reasons outside our control.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Neither of us is liable for indirect or consequential damages (like lost profits).

9. Acceptable use

You won't use the website for anything unlawful, deceptive, or infringing. We may remove content that violates the law or these terms, after telling you why.

10. Changes and contact
